Clock View Hospital is the first of five sites developed under the TIME (To Improve Mental Health Environments) Initiative by Mersey Care NHS Trust,

Clock View provides a range of services and 85 in-patient beds for Adults with Acute Mental Illness and Dementias in north Liverpool on the site of Walton Hospital. The building was constructed by a Farrans and Heron Bros., joint venture, through a public private partnership with LSHP

Designed as a sequence of low pavilions with semi-private and secure gardens that are interlinked by more prominent treatments and offices to create an intensive therapeutic setting.

As well as ecological landscape gardens, staff and service users enjoy a range of artwork commissioned with the building. This new hospital marks a step change in the quality of mental health facilities in the North West of England and is conceived to foster recovery and well-being.

“We have a building here that sets the standard for future facilities, where vulnerable service users are comfortable and can be cared for in a therapeutic environment.” Alan Yates, 2012 Chief Executive, Mersey Care
