Supporting delivery of the New Hospitals Programme

NHS England & NHS Improvement has announced details of the initial £2.5bn of New Hospitals Programme projects — part of the plan to see 40 new healthcare facilities built by 2030.

Supporting delivery of the New Hospitals Programme

The announcement unveils the procurement route for construction of the 26 projects in cohorts 1-3 — the first three stages of the programme. We are providing design services for five of these schemes, one of which, Northgate Hospital, is currently on site.

Cohort 1
Northgate Mental Health Hospital

Cohort 2
Shotley Bridge Hospital Redevelopment
Dorset County Hospital Redevelopment
Dorset St Ann’s Mental Health Unit

Cohort 3
North Manchester General Hospital Redevelopment (designed by Sheppard Robson with Medical Architecture)

A Delivery Partner for cohorts 1-3 will be procured through the Crown Commercial Service (CCS) RM6165 Construction Professional Services Framework (Lot 1: Built Environment and General Infrastructure). Suppliers on this framework will be contacted via the Framework with further details on this opportunity late Q2/early Q3 this year.

Good progress is being made on the five schemes that we are currently involved in. These span three of the seven regions represented in the programme and each looks to address a different set of healthcare needs across mental health and acute health.

We look forward to working closely with construction partners to see these vital schemes through to delivery, setting a positive precedent for the remainder of the New Hospitals Programme.
