Celebrating 35 years of Medical Architecture
This year marks the 35th anniversary of Medical Architecture, reflecting our enduring commitment to the creation of therapeutic environments that promote wellbeing and recovery.
To mark the occasion, we were pleased to welcome our fantastic network of clients, consultants and collaborators to The Lady Ottoline for an evening of celebration.
It was a brilliant opportunity to reconnect with colleagues, old and new, to reflect on many years of shared commitment to the creation of healthcare facilities that improve the experience of patients, staff and visitors.
As the way healthcare is delivered changes, and the needs of the communities we design for evolve, we recognise the value that a collaborative approach to design brings, and this wouldn’t be possible without the positive relationships we’ve built.
A big thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate our 35 years, and to all who continue to be part of our journey.
Founded in 1991 as a progressive group of architects, academics and artists, Medical Architecture (then MAAP) set out to challenge orthodoxy, test the evidence, and push the boundaries of therapeutic design. In the years that followed, we set new standards for the design of healthcare environments that promote recovery. With a talented team and a dedicated group of clients and collaborators, we continue this pursuit today.
We know healthcare will continue to change, and while we cannot predict everything, some things are clear. We will need to achieve more with less, embrace the digital revolution, and support the shift to ‘care closer to home’, with Neighbourhood Health Centres likely to play an important role. We’ll remain inquisitive, embrace new technologies and continue to collaborate, evolving the design of healing environments.
