Project description:
As part of the overall modernisation strategy at St George’s Hospital, a study was undertaken by Ramboll to explore the feasibility of a helipad in order to facilitate faster emergency access, response times and health outcomes.

The helipad’s location was determined by a number of complex factors. It has been designed to be at the centre of the site for the fastest connectivity to all parts of the hospital and also connecting to the primary infrastructure of the functioning A+E unit.

Its location was also chosen to be away from site boundaries, causing the least impact on the site’s neighbours. We worked with the engineer to develop a proposal that would have a minimum impact on the neighbouring buildings. The solution provides a cohesive skyline while incorporating appropriate fire and patient safely measures, cladding options and lighting design.
