Jean Bishop Integrated Care Centre shortlisted for 2019 HSJ Award

The Jean Bishop Integrated Care Centre has been included in the shortlist for best Community/Primary Care Service Redesign in the North, Midlands and East at this year’s Health Service Journal (HSJ) Awards.

This innovative new facility, the first of its type in the UK, has transformed care for the elderly in Hull by providing out of hospital care, reducing unnecessary hospital admissions, and enabling residents to keep fit and healthy while living independently in their own homes. Despite a very competitive field of outstanding redesigns across the region, the HSJ panel selected the ICC in recognition of its pioneering approach to geriatric care.

NHS Hull Clinical Commissioning Group Chief Officer Emma Latimer said:

“It is wonderful news that the ICC has been shortlisted for such a prestigious award. The centre offers a completely integrated service for older people, putting them firmly at the centre and it is very rewarding to see and hear how different the experience feels for them.

“We have some fantastic clinical, social care and voluntary teams and partners involved in the ICC, and we all feel a sense of achievement and pride in how the facility is changing lives and improving health outcomes for people in Hull.”
