Hopewood Park – WWII hero immortalised in glass

Unveiling of a memorial to Flying Officer Cyril Joe Barton VC at Hopewood park, the new £50 million mental health hospital that’s replacing the old Cherry Knowle Hospital, took place on 31st March 2014.

An article was in The Sunderland Echo on the unveiling of the artwork at Hopewood Park – WWII hero immortalised in glass. It also received good coverage on the BBC Look North News (for the North East and Cumbria) on both their 6.30 pm and late night news.

Project Manager for Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust, Grahame Ellis, thanked everyone for attending the unveiling ” … it was a memorable event.”
