Certified Principal Designer

Frank Ellis is the first person in Medical Architecture to successfully complete the new RIBA Principal Designer Course, scoring highly in the online exam.  Frank is based in the Newcastle office and is pleased to have completed the course.

Currently, Frank is project architect working on a new, 15 bed unit for adults with severe autism spectrum disorders on an existing hospital site in Northumberland.  This project has required a sensitive approach, not only in its brief development, but also as it nears commencement on site, adjacent to existing live patient environments.

Prior to this project, Frank successfully delivered the new-build 24 bed Roker and Mowbray Dementia Care Centre in Sunderland.  His experience here has led him to currently act as project lead for the refurbishment and conversion of Mill Cottage in Sunderland to provide 18 beds for elderly frail patients using the Functional Inpatient Service.  Lessons learnt at Roker and Mowbray will be invaluable to address the spatial challenges that need to be met within a tight budget.

Next to undertake the  Principal Designer course, from Medical Architecture, will be, Associate Director,  Ruairi Reeves based in the London office.
