Blossom Court commended at European Healthcare Design Awards

Blossom Court commended at European Healthcare Design Awards.

Blossom Court, our new inpatient building for St Ann’s Hospital, has been Highly Commended at the European Healthcare Design Awards in the Mental Health Design category. The awards, now its seventh year, celebrate and recognise professional and research excellence in the design of healthcare environments both in Europe and around the world.

Successful projects in the Mental Health Design category were those that, through innovative design thinking, achieved a reconciliation between the needs of the patient for a humanistic, recovery-centred environment, and the requirement for appropriate levels of safety, security and supervision.

Medical Architecture Founder, Christopher Shaw, had this to say about the accolade: “The European Healthcare Design Awards represent a gold-standard. Each category is carefully judged by a selected panel of eminent international experts, shortlisted candidates are interviewed, and winners selected. It is a rigorous process.

“This year’s theme, ‘Design Innovation in the face of Existential threats’, elicited a varied and very high standard of submissions from over twenty countries. The spirit of the awards has been convivial, but reflecting their status, competition is fierce. We are delighted to have been recognised among a group of global leaders for our work with the NHS during the last few years.”
